Pair of Antique French Double Doors. Salvaged from an old home in Northeastern PA. The doors have solid oak cores covered with 1/4 thick oak veneers.
They are stained on both sides. Please don't think that "veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture, these veneers are 1/4 thick and provide strength and stability to the door.Oak is a very dense wood and the door would've warped long ago if it weren't for its veneers. Has an impressive arrangement of 15, true-divided windows.
The doors are not equipped with any hardware. Sturdy and in great structural condition. The typical scrapes, scratches, and small nail holes that you would expect to find on an old, used door. The worst damage is a sliver of veneer broke off on the bottom exterior side (see last photo). We could add the missing veneer.
Message us for a quote. However, there are no serious breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, or warp. The small blemishes they have will disappear or diminish drastically after stripping and sanding. All of the glass is intact and also in great condition with only subtle scratches. We could strip/refinish, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. We have MANY photos of doors that we've restored that could give you an idea of how this pair could clean up.
And we'll give you a quote. We could also modify the doors to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace glass with panels etc. (both doors are the same size).
