Original glass to hood door which protects the dial and hinges open to give access to it. Flat top hood design with hand carved moulding decoration around the top edge and pillars to the front corners of the door, on top their are 3 matching 2 wood patterned turned finials which match the inlaid decoration perfectly. The trunk door and base both have an 8 point inlaid star design to them and also 2 tone inlaid decoration around the edges, these are all in excellent condition and of the highest quality. The trunk door has its original working lock and key.
This is an exceptional original 18thc longcase clock of superior quality. 12.5 brass and silvered squared dial. Pierced brass spandrels to the corners.Silvered subsiduary dial and calendar dial aperture to the centre. Roman numerals with original pierced steel hands.
Dial is in excellent original condition signed to the centre by the maker John Seddon of Frodsham (Cheshire). Top quality 18th century English 8 day 2 weight driven bell striking movement with internal count wheel.
Strikes the bell on the hour counting the hours for example at 10 o clock it strikes 10 times. Comes supplied with its Pendulum, 2 original weights and a new brass winding key.

The trunk measures 12.5 inches wide x 8 inches deep. The dial measures 12.5 inches high x 12.5 inches wide. This is a perfect investment clock and a beautiful display piece.
