Antique Art Nouveau French Oak Barrister Bookcase withStained Glass & Desk, 1915

Being offered is a custom French barrister bookcase in solid European oak with stained glass, desk w/cubby-holes, glass & wooden doors, c. This is a rare high-quality commercial piece of furniture that you will not see on the US market often. This is a solid single piece of furniture that does not come apart in sections like many of the other barrister bookcases that are for sale. It is also very heavy, given the nature of the old-growth oak, in excess of 100 pounds.

Because of the weight the piece is very stable and does not tip with all doors and desk open. All locks work and hardware appears to be original. Desk door is very tight and does not open without being pulled down.

This piece was acquired by the former owner in the 1960s while on assignment in Uruguay for a corporation. The person had it moved back to the US after being transferred in the 1980s. Condition is excellent for its age with no damage. Patina is very good and oak has faded to a warm golden honey tone.

D=12 1/4 inches with closed desk. D=22 3/4 inches with open desk.

Desk surface is 12 1/2 inches x 32 3/4 inches. The item "Antique Art Nouveau French Oak Barrister Bookcase withStained Glass & Desk, 1915" is in sale since Wednesday, March 3, 2021. This item is in the category "Antiques\Furniture\Bookcases".
